Kalee Tuomainen is a dedicated and compassionate Registered Provisional Psychologist who deeply cares about providing a space of warmth and kindness for clients so they can feel safe to express their true selves. She understands that, at times, therapy can be uncomfortable and overwhelming and may even bring up feelings of shame, guilt, or anger. Kalee is determined to normalize these uneasy feelings and assure each individual that they are not alone and instead supported through their healing journey.

Kalee’s client focus includes individuals experiencing cumulative stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges and those navigating significant life transitions. She also works with couples at various stages in their relationships, including those who have only been together for a short while, those with many years together, or those seeking clarity about considerations of ending a relationship and a desire to do it amicably.

With individuals and couples, Kalee helps clients explore and gain insight into their strengths, attachment styles, past traumas and triggers, unhelpful patterns, communication problems, boundary issues, or deeply held beliefs that may be affecting their relationships with themselves and others. She also helps those in ADHD partnerships to identify specific interactions impacting their connection as well as highlighting the positives and uniqueness of their relationship. Kalee aims to genuinely understand her clients so she can work with them to develop strategies that align with their values and therapeutic goals.

To support her clients, she uses therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Attachment-based therapy, the Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). To broaden her understanding of the mental health field, Kalee volunteered with Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) and graduated from Yorkville University with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

She is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists, as a Registered Provisional Psychologist #P7545. If you are looking for a compassionate therapist who will work tirelessly to help you achieve your goals, contact Kalee at Core Psychology today.
